Genius Hour Week Two Term Two

Task: Design my dream home on sketch up

Yesterday we designed our houses on paper. We wanted to go onto Sketch up though we had a few hurdles downloading it onto the school computers. The computers were too old to handle it and we might find another way to do it in the next week. Our designs are looking good and the general task was completed. Overall the day didn't go as planned though we finished the designs.
It will probably take a term to design, build on an app, and make it a house to handle a growing family.


Genius Hour

Every Tuesday after Tech, we are allowed to work on projects that we are interested in. It could be anything from researching  information, making models to creating websites.

On this page I will reflect on my my day of discovery and share my learning.

Sherbert:
2t of citric acid
3t of juice crystals
4t icing sugar
2t of baking soda
heaps of tartaric acid

Everything in that list we pretty much x10ed and added them all together.
The day went well.

On Tuesday for genius hour me, Luke, Finn and Thomas carried on with making the go kart. We had cut the barrel last week. I brought a noodle from home to stick onto the edges so it isn't so sharp. Then we got Mr Larkin to cut the back for us. Then we sorted the wheels out for putting on. We realized that we didn't have some of the bolts we need so me and Thomas ran down to bunnings. It is nearly finished and I think the day went well.

This Genius hour we widened the wheels at the back so it doesn’t tip so easily and we started painting it with spray paint. All we have to do now is pad it and paint a tiny bit more.

I think the day went well but I thought we could get a little more done.

In this series of genius hours we have 2 days of work. I will be making a website about my ancestry. I am really interested about my ancestry tree and I will love to find out a bit more.

On the first Tuesday I found the records, which were already their because I had found them ages ago and I also started making the website. First I named the website and put an design on it, shortly after I wrote a little introduction about the website and attached a map getting people to find Scunthorpe and Waikanae. Then I wrote a quick paragraph about myself. Then I attached a link sending viewers to my ancestry tree on ancestry.com.au. Then I found out that I had to pay to put a password protection on it so I started converting it to blogger where I didn't have to pay.

I think the first day went very well and I don’t have to do much on the second day. On the second day I will start planning my next genius hour.

I think genius hour was a good idea and I like learning wacky things.


The second day went pretty well. I finished within the first half an hour. I only had to post it onto this blog and put a link on it. I hope you like it.
